Hi. I would appreciate if you could agree on some “common” topics that need the R18 lyrics tag.
Something that should be easy to figure out are songs like those from Hazbin Hotel. What might be more tricky are the “typical” rap songs, e.g. Travis Scott’s goosebumps: https://kara.moe/kara/goosebumps/8d2f2cc9-c338-4bc5-9138-9bbe3f5ea37a

Also maybe we should note down that judging this matter, needs a peek at a lyrics translation if the maintainer does not understand the language used in the song.
Thanks!

We’ll never be able to fully understand lyrics or sensibilities of everyone when ti comes to R18 tagging. We can try though. For lyrics, the most common rule we have is “Can this be played safely at a convention?”

We did have an idea at some point to separate R18 lyrics and R18 visuals into two tags, but I don’t remember what we said about that.

Aeden created the separate tags yesterday and suggested that I note the previous comment down in the forum for discussion in the meeting. So all good.

A questions about consistency regarding idol songs:
At the moment we have entries in the database where every singer of the idol group is listed as singer. Do we want that as the desirable input or do we prefer just the group name as band?

My personal opinion: Singers in idol groups are usually only known with their first name and so overlapping tags that refer to different people will probably be faced some time. In addition it is a lot of work to always list the singers as well and sometimes not even easy to get the information as members of idol groups tend to switch over the years. So I personally would prefer if you could get rid of the singer names and only keep the band name.

I think the opposite. We want to keep our rules simple, so defining what an Idol Group Member is seems to be unnecessary clutter in the rules.

To me, the duplication problem in the tags isn’t that much of a problem since we can modify internal names (by appending the group name) to avoid possible collisions. And IIRC the internal name appears in the kara form if different from the computed name for the user’s locale. This is to me the only place where it is critical to be able to make the difference between tags with same names. Also, fact checking who sung doesn’t seem that much of a burden rn since our dedicated idol fans (contributor/maintainer) already do an excellent job at that

TLDR: I think that disallowing Idol Group Members would bring unnecessary complexity in the submission guidelines (what qualifies as such? do we make exceptions for multimedia project? etc.) The current system of changing internal tag name suffices to mitigate potential issues imo.
