How can I hear myself ? Is there a setting I missed ?

Karaoke Mugen is not a “karaoke” application but a karaoke session manager. You’re not supposed to hear yourself in a microphone with Karaoke Mugen by itself. You can still plug a microphone to your computer and route the audio output of that microphone to your speakers to hear yourself, but that’s not something Karaoke Mugen will do for you.
